Jumpstart Your New Year with these Winter Park Weight Loss Foods

It’s that time of year again. It’s time to start focusing on your resolutions and working towards your healthier self. This means eating better and possibly losing weight. Here are a few Winter Park weight loss foods to add to your diet to optimize your weight loss goals.

Quinoa

Quinoa is an excellent choice when it comes to healthy Winter Park weight loss foods. It’s high in protein and fiber, and rich in vitamins and minerals like calcium, iron and vitamin B12.

You can make a quinoa salad, eat it alone, or add it to rice. It’s a very versatile, healthful food.

Berries

Strawberries, blueberries, and any other berry for that matter are a well-known Superfood. They are usually low in calories, packed with vitamins and minerals, and filled with fiber. Not to mention, they taste great!

Berries are a great addition to add to many meals including yogurt, oatmeal, or to even eat alone. At times when it’s difficult to meet your daily requirements of fruits and vegetables, I always recommend any type of berry as a great “grab and go” food.

Oatmeal

Now you may be asking yourself, “Why oatmeal? Isn’t it loaded with carbs?” Although that’s right, it’s the right kind of carbs. Oatmeal is packed with complex carbohydrates, which means that it takes your body more time to break it down into sugars. This is the preferred carbohydrate source, since it takes more time to digest, keeps you fuller longer and doesn’t spike your blood sugar levels.

Oats have been shown to help potentially aid in weight loss, reduce the risk of heart disease and even lower blood sugar levels.

You can add some berries or nuts to your oatmeal or just have it plain. If you want to make it a little sweeter, think of using a natural sweetener such as honey or agave instead of sugar.

Spinach

Spinach is not only high in iron, but it’s also low in calories. What this means is you can eat a lot of spinach without any added guilt. This leafy green is stock-full of many vitamins and minerals. It’s high in zinc and niacin, as well as vitamins A, C and E. Folate, also found in spinach, is good for your cardiovascular system.

These are only a few of my Winter Park weight loss foods for you to consider adding to your diet and overall healthier lifestyle.
