Creating Your 2019 Goals

A New Year is all about fresh starts and building new healthy habits. Swarms of people will be starting their diets and heading to the gym, but how can you create goals you can actually follow through and accomplish this year?

Follow The SMART Rule:

Specific-create very specific goals. If they are too vague it will be easy to push them to the side or ignore them completely.

Measurable– make them easy to track. Something we do in the office is set smaller goals that lead us to our larger goal. With the smaller ones we are able to monitor our progress and reward ourselves when we hit them.

Attainable– make them realistic. Making goals you can’t reasonably achieve will only cause greater distress and risk you falling down further than you might already be.

Relevant– make it relevant to you, what you need, and what you will actually be able to accomplish. Some tips:

  • Find a Mode of Fitness You Actually Enjoy
    • Experiment with different forms of fitness to see whats a fit for you. Exercise is not a one-size fits all thing, what may work for someone won’t necessarily work for you.
  • Try New Foods
    • find foods you actually enjoy, there are big misconceptions of what you do and don’t like as you get older so step out of your comfort zone and try some new foods! You may surprise yourself.

Time Bound– give yourself a specific time frame to achieve these goals, and keep yourself accountable, whether that means having an accountability buddy or posting them publicly.
